Leading Universities of Kazakhstan to Join the League of Academic Integrity

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Leading universities in Kazakhstan will discuss matters related to the activities of the League of Academic Integrity at the M.S. Narikbayev KazGUU, according to a correspondent of MIA Kazinform.

This was announced during a press conference by Asqat Aymagambetov, Vice Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

"In Kazakhstan, the Law 'On Amending and Supplementing Some Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Expanding the Academic and Managerial Autonomy of Higher Education Institutions' was adopted. The law is aimed at gradually expanding the academic and managerial autonomy of universities," he said.

The Vice Minister noted that in support of the initiative of the Head of State at the August republican conference of education workers, a project to create an association of universities was presented.

"As of today, 27 universities have decided to join the league. These include the MUИT University, KBTU, Nazarbayev University, L.N. Gumilyov ENU, al-Farabi KazNU, KIMEP, AlmaU, Satbayev KazNITU, S. Demirel University, KazGUU, KazNPU, and others," he said.

The Vice Minister also emphasized that the doors are open to everyone, but in order to become members of the league, certain principles must be adhered to.

Asqat Aymagambetov stressed that the main goal of the league is to improve the quality of education by implementing and promoting the principles of academic integrity.

It is known that the league's activities will be closely linked to the 10 principles outlined in the charter, based on the best practices of universities around the world.

During the meeting, it is also planned to discuss and approve the charter and founding documents of the league, provide recommendations for improving the forms of interaction within the league, and appoint the first chairman and head of the executive body of the association.
