A Guide to Using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Academic Activities

Representatives from 10+ Kazakhstani universities convened at MNU's August 31 online roundtable to discuss the challenges posed by generative AI to Academic Integrity. Participants expressed alarm over the rising trend of students using AI-powered platforms to produce assignments.

The Project Office of the Academic Integrity League is excited to share some great news.

The roundtable discussion we held served as a catalyst for the development of a crucial document: the Unified Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Academic Activities among the universities of the Academic Integrity League.

As a result, a working group was established at MNU, led by Provost Sergey Gennadievich, which prepared the document: "Guidelines for the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Academic Activities."

This document was presented yesterday, December 20, by Sergey Gennadievich Pen at a meeting of the Scientific and Technical Council of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and has been sent to universities for further use in academic activities. This document will be available on the League's website in the "Plans and Projects" section, will be translated into Kazakh and English, and will be officially sent to the chancelleries of the universities that are members of the Academic Integrity League upon completion.

On behalf of the AI League Project Office, I would like to express our gratitude for their contribution to the future of education to the team and the Rector of the International University of Information Technologies (MUIT), Askar Kusupbekovich Khikmetov, who prepared and presented the draft Interuniversity Standard for the Application of Artificial Intelligence in Higher and Postgraduate Education in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
