Activities of the Academic Integrity League: Background, Results, Plans

The Academic Integrity League (AIL) was founded five years ago with the mission of promoting the principles of Academic Integrity and ethics in higher education institutions. Over the years, the League has united 18 universities, becoming a platform for exchanging experiences, developing networking, and creating joint projects. The League's key achievements include audit, creation of an educational content, and active participation in international organizations such as the International Center of Academic Integrity (ICAI).

Currently, in collaboration with the Actobe Regional Zhubanov University, the League is preparing a strategic development plan for the next academic year. The main events planned within the framework of this Plan include:

1. International conferences and seminars on Academic Integrity issues.
2. Creation and implementation of new educational programs and courses.
3. Roundtables and discussions on topics of Academic ethics and the use of modern technologies in the management and analysis of educational processes.
4. Monitoring and evaluation of current practices in the participating universities of the League.
5. Development and implementation of the Academic Integrity Dashboard, which will be available to all members of the League.

Within the framework of exchanging experience, the Astana Medical University and the Karaganda Medical University are happy to share their experience in implementing the Academic Integrity Dashboard. In essence, this is an opportunity to receive, without the presence of specialists, an Analytical Report on students and teaching staff in the AIS "Platon" based on Power BI in a visual representation (graphics, diagrams, distribution curve of grades). This tool allows you to effectively track and evaluate:

Reports on the contingent of students;
Academic performance and GPA of students;
Academic performance and GPA of students by courses;
Academic performance, quality of knowledge, average score of students in the context of teachers;
Distribution curve of grades (Bell Curve) by students;
Distribution curve of grades (Bell Curve) by disciplines;
Distribution curve of grades (Bell Curve) by teachers;
Bell Curve by students (for all types of grades).

All these types of reports allow you to analyze, monitor and control the level of academic integrity at the university, as well as develop measures to improve it. Representatives of these universities can provide consultations and share methodological recommendations for universities interested in implementing such systems.

Interest in the Academic Integrity League continues to grow. More than 10 universities have already expressed interest in joining the League. In order to join universities should send their official requests to AIL official email and/or contact the Project office, where they will be provided with all the necessary information and support.

Joining the Academic Integrity League provides unique benefits, including:

• Access to a new standard of university activity with improved blocks;
• Implementation of joint projects;
• Exchange of experience with world leaders in education;
• Participation in international initiatives.

We call on all higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan and other countries to actively participate in the development of a culture of Academic Integrity, strive for high standards of education, and work together to improve the quality of the educational process.
